Exodus 20:1-17

How can we know what is right and wrong? The rules in God’s law give authoritative moral direction about how to love God and how to love our neighbour. Jesus summarized the 10 commandments in Matthew 22:37-40.

I (v3) God is at the Center of All of Life

IV (v8-11) Honouring God’s Special Day
Requires: Matthew 12:9-12; Leviticus 23:3
Forbids: Isaiah 58:13, 14; Jeremiah 17:21-22

V (v12) Respect for Authority
Requires: Ephesians 6:1-2, 6-7; 1 Peter 2:13-19; 1 Timothy 2:1,2;

VI (v13) Preserving Human Life

IX (v16) Supporting the Truth

X (v17) Contentment
